How to follow a house chain
Suppose Ring lands in the House of Mountain. Find Mountain and note its house. If Mountain lands in the House of Letter, find Letter. If Letter lands in the House of Key, the chain becomes:
Commitment meets an obstacle, the obstacle is connected with communication, and the communication carries the key to resolution.
Stop when the chain returns to a card already used, reaches a clearly decisive symbol or becomes too far removed from the original question. A chain is a tool for focus, not permission to read the entire tableau twice.
Cards in their own houses
When a card lands in its own house, its theme is emphasized and often operates in a direct form. Ring in the House of Ring strengthens commitment or a repeating cycle. Tower in the House of Tower reinforces institution, independence or distance.
It is not automatically positive. Mice in the House of Mice strengthens erosion and stress. Clouds in the House of Clouds confirms that uncertainty is central.
House meaning versus nearby cards
Nearby cards describe the immediate environment. The house describes the underlying field. If Heart lands in the House of Mountain but is surrounded by Sun, Key and Rider, love has an obstacle at its base while the visible movement supports clarity and approach.
Do not let the house erase the surrounding line. Read both and explain the tension.
