Guidance is different from certainty. When you feel lost, the most useful reading may not tell you exactly what happens next. It may separate fact from fear, show what is in your control and identify the next action that fits your values.
These nine spreads are designed for direction. They work best with one situation and a question that begins with what, how or where.
Ask for direction, not permission
Questions such as “What deserves my attention?” and “What should guide this decision?” give the reading room to be useful. Questions that hand away all authority, such as “Tell me what to do,” make it harder to evaluate the answer.
Before shuffling, write what you already know. This gives the cards a real context and makes it easier to notice when fear or wishful thinking is filling a gap.
1. Clarity Compass
Find direction by separating purpose, information, stability and release.
- North: purpose
- East: new information
- South: grounding
- West: release
- Center: next step
Reading tip: Read the center last and turn it into one choice.
2. Lost and Found
Use this when you feel disconnected from direction or identity.
- What feels lost
- Where I stopped trusting myself
- What remains with me
- What helps me return
Reading tip: The third card is often the resource that confusion has hidden.
3. Fog Lifter
Separate evidence, fear, hope and timing before acting.
- What is fact
- What is fear
- What is wishful thinking
- What needs time
- What I can do now
Reading tip: Do not force Card Four to hurry. Waiting can be an active choice when paired with Card Five.
4. Crossroads
Compare what each path gives and asks from you.
- Path A offers
- Path A requires
- Path B offers
- Path B requires
- My decision principle
Reading tip: Do not count positive cards. Compare the life each path requires.
5. One-Week Direction
Create a short horizon when the whole future feels overwhelming.
- Main focus
- Support
- Distraction
- Turning point
- Best next step
Reading tip: Review after seven days and note what was literal and what described your response.
6. Inner Advisor
Hear your own judgement more clearly without pretending uncertainty has vanished.
- What I already know
- Why I doubt it
- What wisdom says
- How to act with care
Reading tip: Card Three is a value or principle, not a command from outside you.
7. Relationship Direction
Read a relationship through patterns, reciprocity and communication.
- Current pattern
- What is mutual
- What is missing
- What I can communicate
- Likely direction
Reading tip: The last card shows the current direction, which can change when behavior changes.
8. Career Direction
Connect career guidance with energy, skill and a concrete next move.
- Where I am
- What is growing
- What is draining me
- Skill to strengthen
- Next professional move
Reading tip: Confirm job, money and contract decisions with reliable practical information.
9. The Next Right Step
Reduce a large problem to priorities, agency, support and one action.
- What matters most
- What can wait
- What is in my control
- Who or what can help
- The next right step
Reading tip: If the last card is abstract, ask what it looks like on your calendar.
Turn guidance into a decision
After the spread, write three lines: what is true now, what is within your control and what you will do next. If you cannot name an action, the reading is still too abstract.
Give the action a time frame. A message can be drafted tomorrow. A budget can be reviewed this week. A boundary can be written before the next conversation. The cards become more useful when interpretation enters ordinary life.
When not to pull more cards
Stop when every position has been answered. Repeating the same spread immediately can turn guidance into a search for the preferred outcome. Return after new information or after you have acted on the part already in your control.

What tarot spread should I use when I feel lost?
Use the five-card Clarity Compass or Next Right Step spread. Both separate purpose, support and action.
How many cards are best for guidance?
Three to five cards are usually enough. More cards help only when the question contains several distinct parts.
Can tarot tell me what decision to make?
Tarot can compare conditions, values and likely directions, but the decision and its consequences remain yours.
What is the difference between clarity and prediction?
Clarity focuses on what is present, what matters and what you can do. Prediction focuses on how a pattern may develop.
How often can I repeat a guidance spread?
Repeat it after new information, a meaningful action or a change in circumstances, not immediately because you dislike the first answer.
